After a 32 year career in public service, I began my pottery adventure as a result of my personal development experience as a Kellogg National Fellow, through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. During my fellowship that took me all over the world, I had the chance to apprentice with a potter in Asheville, North Carolina, giving me my first experience with clay. From that opportunity I established my own pottery studio in 2001.
I am a member of the Oconee Curltural Arts Foundation in Watkinsville, GA, where I have taken numberous classes from wheel throwing to hand building with clay. I am also a member of the Madison Art Guild in Madison, Ga. I have participated in a wide variety of workshops given by nationally known potters such as Warren MacKenzie, Judith Duff and Tom Spleth.
I throw functional stoneware pottery designed to be used in everyday life. I fire to cone 10 in a gas kiln. To add variety to my work, I also hand build and raku other pieces. My commissioned work has been presented to Heads-of-State and dignitaries around the world. Throughout my professional work in environmental education I taught children about the earth, now it is only fitting that I work with my hands to create functional pottery pieces from that earth... It truly completes the circle of my life.
My studio is located in
Madison, GA 30650
